Editor's Review:

Flying Flowers has been around since 1981, offering fresh, beautiful flowers at reasonable prices. Their flowers come with free delivery and a pop-up vase, and you can pay for guaranteed next day delivery. Silk flowers and other gifts are also available.

This is a colourful and easy-use website which allows you to find flowers and bouquets based on the season, occasion, range or special offers. Filtering through the options is quick and easy since you’ve able to sort results based on “recommended” flowers, or their cost (high to low, or low to high).

Cost and delivery

The cheapest bunches come in at around £14, which includes delivery and a pop-up vase. This is very reasonable, particularly since the recipient also has a vessel to keep the flower in once they’ve been received. You can guarantee next day delivery but this does cost £5.99, which is quite a big increase compared to free delivery, particularly if you’re only wanting to spend a minimal amount. We’ve also seen a few complaints that deliveries (even guaranteed next day) were not on time.

Bespoke flowers and bundles

You can upgrade or downgrade your bouquets, opting for a larger or smaller number of flowers. Thankfully, we don’t feel that you’re unjustly charged for these changes, so you shouldn’t feel hard done by if you do want to adjust the size of a bouquet. FlyingFlowers.co.uk also offers a few upgrades such as adding a gift (chocolates, ribbons, cards or glass vases), all of which are under £5. It is, however, a little lacking when it comes to more luxurious items, as the glass vases may not appeal to all tastes.

Several articles offer a little insight into the flower industry, what to look out for and how to care for your flowers, which is a welcome addition. You can also purchase hampers and wine separately, or make donations to Help for Heroes. More could be made of this, however, and generally we would like to see more options available for gifts and flowers, such as being able to choose wrappings, make inquiries, or choose from a wider variety of extras.

Service

Customers can leave reviews of their orders, which is a good way to find out what they think of their flowers after having received them. They can also report (and leave star feedback) on the customer service, and we were pleased to see plenty of glowing stars. This is really useful because it provides a chance to get real feedback on the flowers from people who’ve bought and enjoyed them. This might be especially worth reading because customers leave personal responses about their experience with the company and their products.

Summary

Whilst it doesn’t quite compete with some of the top performers in the market when it comes to the variety of flowers and gifts on offer, Flying Flowers offers a decent range of attractive bouquets and a few reasonably priced extras. With free delivery and a pop up vase, plus several attractive and low-cost bouquets, it’s worth checking out, particularly if you’re on a budget.
