Blooming Direct is an online flower and gardening supplies delivery service that serves the UK and Ireland. Unlike most traditional flower delivery services, Blooming Direct’s main business isn’t flower delivery at all, but mail-order bulbs, plug plants, seeds and gardening supplies. This means that although the number of bouquets on offer at Blooming Direct is smaller and less varied than at other services, such as Interflora or eFlorist for example, customers can also choose from a wide range of other horticultural gifts that may be suitable for their loved ones, especially if they have a keen interest in gardening!
Blooming direct offers users a choice from around 12 basic bouquet designs, with prices starting at around £30. Although the number of bouquets on offer is particularly small, especially when compared with other sites, they do cover a range of styles, from modern innovations to classic combinations. Customers can also choose from a number of add-on gifts, including chocolates, vouchers, wine, balloons and more. One of the more interesting and unusual services offered by Blooming Direct is the “matching service” whereby customers can choose bulbs and plug plants that match the flowers included the bouquet they are having delivered. Finally, with all bouquets being hand-arranged by a local florist and free delivery being offered on all bouquets at Blooming Direct, the price you see on the site is the price you pay – no hidden costs! Our main criticism of the site is that, even though the bouquets themselves are of a good quality, there simply isn’t the choice available that most consumers would expect from a modern flower delivery service – sort it out Blooming Direct!
Blooming Direct is a bit of a mixed bag. While on the one hand customers can choose from a variety of products, including flowers, gardening tools, plants and more, all with free delivery; the actual flower-delivery side of the Blooming Direct business leaves us feeling a little disappointed. With only a limited range of bouquets and little ongoing variation, there isn’t a great deal of choice (we couldn’t, for example, find a dozen red roses – a mainstay product of most flower delivery services!) and this will prove to be a serious downside for many users. While we would suggest our readers check this site out (especially if they have green fingers!) there are better places to order flowers – check out some of the other reviews in this category to find out about some of them!
