I am a mischievous type of chap so when Valentine's day comes along in a period of austerity, I thought I would tease the wife by introducing her to the new world economic order, so I printed off a Tesco's value valentine card. The in-applicability of such a gift was to be of no issue as I had secretly bought a large special valentine's bouquet (valued at £50) from Flowers direct to be delivered to the school where she works.

So when she open the poor quality and tacky Valentines card with a sad and (although reasonable well hidden) cross expression on her face, I discreetly chuckled to myself knowing she would come home with a large and impressive bouquet, and she would realise I was a humorous romantic not a tight arse git, or so I thought.

Despite the fact that my wife worked at the school and that is where they were to be delivered, the delivery stipulated that on Valentine's day if could be delivered anytime between 9 and 6. I asked for delivery to be arranged before 4pm as, for obvious reasons a primary school tends to close at this time.
So along came home time, and I was in the house by the time the wife got home, looking forward to being hailed as a romantic joker and the best husband in the world, I was met by a partner who still regarded me as something betwixt Scrooge and Rigby (of rising damp fame). Just to make the point she sadly (with the expression of a lost puppy) told me of the lovely flowers that turned up at work for the other staff, even from Morrison's and the co-op). The flowers hadn't turned up...
I told he of what I had planned, I showed her the order form, we rang the school and no flowers. The dogs kennel was uncomfortable that night.

All weekend, as Valentines day was conveniently on a Friday, oh did I endure descriptions of how nice the value bouquet from the co-op would look on our mantelpiece and other such comments all Saturday and Sunday.

Then came Monday, alas I thought the flowers will turn up, and she will see the impressive array of blooms that were advertised on the website!

I received a text from the Wife on Monday to say the Flowers had turned up on Friday at a school at 5.50, there was a pathetic little bunch of 4 roses and a few lilies' withering at school. Rather than the impressive bouquet that was described on the website. I have contacted flowers direct who state that the flowers were delivered by 6pm as per contract and we should wait until some of the other flowers open. We let our florist see this bouquet and she explained that half of the flowers had gone over, one or two were dead and the bouquet are not as good as the one Morrison's were selling for a tenner. I had to agree. Flowers direct delivered a poor bouquet, far too late and ruined a Valentines day for my wife, there e-mail response quite clearly shows they don't give a damn.

The text below is their response to a lengthy letter complaining about the poor service and product they offered

"I have tracked your order for you and found that it was delivered on the 14th February at 17:38. It was signed for by an "XXXX". "It is advised during the ordering process that deliveries can be delivered anytime between 9am and 6pm. As the delivery arrived between the specified times we are unable to investigate this further. Please accept our apology for any inconvenience this caused."

This completed the hat-trick of uselessness. The worst bouquet, the worst service and the least sincere apology I have ever got off a company. I will never order from these feeble flourists again.

In summary, I would not recommend Flowers Direct to a friend.
